I’ll be talking about Queer books for kids and teens (mine and others) and empowering Queer History at three events in June… I hope you’ll join me for one or more!
Tuesday June 14th at 6pm – A Pride Book Talk IN-PERSON at PAGES Bookstore in Manhattan Beach, CA
This is a fun format – I’ll be talking for a few minutes at the top, and then joining in with Pages’ amazing staff to share Queer Kid Lit book recommendations – picture books, middle grade, young adult, graphic novels, fiction and nonfiction… And the evening’s purchases will benefit PFLAG Manhattan Beach!
Wednesday June 15 at 7pm – ONLINE for PFLAG Los Angeles
I’ll be sharing a presentation, Empowering Kids and Teens with LGBTQ History – it’s a half-hour packed with fascinating information, and there will be a Q&A. After I talk, the meeting will transition to the wonderful community support of PFLAG’s discussion circles! Parents, Friends, Family, Queer People and Allies are welcome.
In this Family Pride Month celebration, we’ll be each talking about our own books for kids and teens and also sharing some awesome activities like Origami, making Pride ribbon streamers, Decoding a Pride-month message with Anne Lister’s secret code, Pride word-searches… it’ll be fun for all ages! And we’ll get to hear Andrea J. Loney read her amazing BunnyBear and Erica Silverman read her amazing Jack (Not Jackie) and I’ll be sharing from No Way, They Were Gay?
I hope you’ll be able to join for one or two or all! Happy Pride,
The light in me recognizes and acknowledges the light in you,
Lee
