This is such cool news.
Red and Green and Blue and White was included in the picture book category, with the diversity and read-aloud icons, along with this summary review: “A fictionalized account of a town bonding together to stop bigotry, told with stunningly simple language. Colorful layered images created with brushwork on a Wacom tablet.”
and No Way, They Were Gay? was also included, in the History category, with the diversity icon as well as an Asterisk, noting it a as a title of “Outstanding Merit!” Here’s the summary review they gave for that book: “Extensive primary sources enhance a breezy text depicting the lives of many LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout history. Photographs. Letters, footnotes, and author’s note.”
I’m proud and delighted to have these two such different books of my heart acknowledged and celebrated in this way! Check out the announcement from the Children’s Book Committee of the Bank Street College of Education and their list of the Best Children’s Books of the Year: 2022 Edition here.
Thanks for your support on this author adventure!
Gratefully,
