How amazing is it to hear from friends that they’ve spotted my debut picture book out in the wild? Really amazing. And okay, a world-renowned contemporary art museum’s gift shop isn’t exactly “the wild,” but I’m still so delighted!
And the amazing team at my publisher, Levine Querido, has put together a virtual book tour with eight(!!!!!!!!) live events between now and February 2022. Here’s the current list. I hope you can join me for one or more!
November 10, 2021 – The West Coast virtual book launch event at my local indie bookstore {Pages} in Manhattan Beach, California. A conversation and celebration with me, the book’s illustrator Paul O. Zelinsky, and the wonderful Jane Yolen! Details and RSVP for this free for everyone event here.
November 11, 2021 – Warwick’s in San Diego (La Jolla) California, a virtual conversation between me and Jeniffer Thompson, Creative Director and co-founder of the San Diego Writers Festival! Details and RSVP for this free for everyone virtual event here.
November 21, 2021 – The East Coast virtual book launch event at New York City’s Books of Wonder – a panel about new holiday books with Paul and myself and two other picture book creator teams!
December 3, 2021 – A virtual school visit event with Paul and myself hosted by Chicago’s Anderson’s Bookshop!
December 6, 2021 – A virtual event with Paul and myself hosted by Houston, Texas’ Blue Willow Bookshop!
December 13, 2021 – A virtual school visit event with Paul and myself hosted by Washington, D.C.’s An Open Book Foundation!
December 18, 2021 – Barnes & Noble storytime – video release day of me reading the book and Paul sharing a fun activity for kids!
and in February 2022, on the 26th – a virtual event with Belmont Books in Massachusetts!
What an adventure! I feel like I need a “concert” style T-shirt with the book cover image on the front and a list of tour cities on the back.
Grateful, grateful, grateful. And so excited for this book – with so much heart – to get out in the world and reach young people. I’ve heard it from a bunch of sources, and I think it’s true: the way you change the world is one heart at a time.
The light in me recognizes and acknowledges the light in you,
Lee
P.S. – Thanks to Michele for the awesome pic of “Red and Green and Blue and White” at MOCA!
